KC Distribution Advantages
Location
Located in the heart of America at the hub of the transcontinental and NAFTA trade corridors, Kansas City is a center of choice for warehousing and distribution. Business has prospered due in large part to the region's abundant, multi-modal transportation network.
Kansas City boasts more freeway-lane miles per capita in which three interstates intersect, soon to have a fourth. The region also is a prime player in the emerging international trade corridor providing for the efficient flow of goods across America and between the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Four major railroads serve Kansas City making it the largest rail hub in the nation in terms of volume. With 90 miles of track in the metro area, all under centralized traffic control, the Kansas City Terminal Railway Co. coordinates the efficient movement and interchange of rail traffic for the more than 300 trains arriving or departing Kansas City each day.
The Kansas City area moves more air cargo in a six state area than any other region in the U.S. Kansas City has three active airports and one of the largest airport Foreign Trade Zones in the U.S.
